Abstract

The concept of “between” (tra) and “intraworldly” (intramondano) emerges as an intermediate space, a threshold where encounters, transformations, recognitions, and mediations occur. In ancient Greek, the term “metaxy” (μεταξύ) embodies this idea, describing an in-between place essential for becoming and dialogue between opposing or different polarities. This concept extends to embrace an ontological and spiritual dimension resonating in modern and contemporary philosophy, particularly in Carabellese’s work and Moretti-Costanzi’s notion of “earthliness” and “world”. The “between” represents a dialectical relationship of recognition that doesn’t demand the exclusion of opposite poles but rather welcomes and acknowledges the distinction as a continuous reference to self and beyond.
