Abstract

Our societies are becoming increasingly vulnerable, swept by a multitude of crises – social, economic, ecological, and more – that seem to reflect a deeper crisis: a crisis of relationships, of living-together, of being-together. Yet, it is well known that every crisis carries within itself the potential for its own transcendence, an “elsewhere” to be imagined and constructed. If understood rather than rejected, every crisis can release a “creative impulse,” a force that drives us to envision a new and often entirely unprecedented world. In this perspective, the untimely message of personalism (untimely in the sense used by Friedrich Nietzsche) invites us to respond to the wounds and challenges of our time, encouraging us to “Recreate the Renaissance” and to foster and disseminate a “New Humanism.”
