Abstract

This work explores the possibilities of metaphor as a mechanism for understanding otherness and its relationship with education and artistic sensitivity. It draws on the concept of porosity and the ethics of attention developed by Iris Murdoch and Simone Weil to examine how learning and artistic creation take place through interaction with the “other” and their circumstances. From the classic conception of metaphor, its didactic potential and its application to contemporary competency-based education are examined, thus showing its functionality in knowledge transmission and the development of critical thinking. Furthermore, its relevance in art as a means of intersubjective connection is explored. Finally, innovative educational experiences focused on intersectionality, social inclusion, and the integration of vulnerable groups are presented.
