Robert Frost e Edward Thomas: poesie e preghiere di primavera

Il saggio illustra l’amicizia e gli esordi poetici di Robert Frost ed Edward Thomas in Inghilterra tra l’inizio e la metà degli anni ‘10. The essay illustrates the friendship and early poetic careers of Robert Frost and Edward Thomas in England during the early and middle 1910s. Some of the most representative lyrics they wrote in those years emphasize the fragile and transient condition of living forms in nature, so as to become prayers against nature’s laws themselves. Whereas Frost’s strategies tend to avoid elegy to raise his springtime devotions, Thomas resorts to elegy to compose his wreaths and requiems for the victims of the Great War.
